Vehicles Of Expression
I'm a native New Yorker who pursued art studies at Queens College during the 1970s while driving a taxi at night. This unique combination allowed me to discover beauty in unexpected places, like the backs of trucks.
The bustling world of traffic sparked my imagination, inspiring me to transform unconventional objects into works of art. While the back of a truck may not seem appealing to most, I saw it as an opportunity to celebrate the working class. By employing a modern-day grid technique, I created a pictorial space that is universally recognizable and deeply rooted in reality.
My goal is to demystify art by making it accessible and relatable to everyone. The commonality and familiarity of my pieces invite viewers, to appreciate art in their everyday surroundings. Each viewer becomes a part of the moment, connecting with the creative process on a personal level.
Through these paintings, I aim to transcend the mere representation of vehicles and delve into their deeper significance. These machines, whether in motion or at rest, embody our aspirations, desires, and dreams. They symbolize our longing for freedom, adventure, and the pursuit of new horizons. They become extensions of ourselves, vehicles through which we explore the world and connect with others.
